Cafe Compute is Cerebras' global community meetup format - a relaxed, hands-on evening where people build rather than just listen. Cerebras and OpenAI are bringing it to Lisbon for Lisbon AI Week, hosted by Cerebras Community Ambassador Francisco Ribeiro.

The evening runs on a tight two-hour arc. Doors open with drinks and pizza. A 15-minute introduction covers Cerebras, the Wafer-Scale Engine (WSE-3, the world's largest AI chip) and why inference speed changes what you can realistically build. The bulk of the time is a live coding session: attendees work on their own laptops against Cerebras Inference and OpenAI Codex-Spark, plus open-source models such as GLM 4.7, with the hosts on hand to unblock people. The evening closes with open networking.

OBJECTIVES

1. Give Lisbon's developer community direct, practical exposure to frontier inference hardware - up to 15x faster than leading GPUs - instead of a slide deck about it.

2. Lower the barrier to actually trying it: every attendee leaves with a Cerebras API key and free compute credits, so what starts in the room can continue afterwards.

3. Connect the people building with AI in Lisbon - independent developers, startup engineering teams and enterprise technologists - in a setting where conversation happens naturally rather than through a Q&A microphone.

EXPECTED IMPACT

We expect 60-80 people in the room. The measurable outcome is working code: prototypes and experiments started on the night and continued afterwards on free credits. The softer outcome matters as much - Lisbon gains a recurring, low-friction technical meetup with a global sponsor behind it, and Lisbon AI Week gains a genuinely hands-on entry in the programme to balance the talks and panels. Cafe Compute runs in cities worldwide; a strong Lisbon edition makes this a repeating fixture rather than a one-off, and strengthens the Iberian ambassador cluster already forming between Lisbon, Madrid and Barcelona.
