Defence Tech Meetup #8: Autonomy from Orbit to Maritime Operations

Join us in Lisbon for the 8th edition of the Defence Tech Meetup, hosted at Critical Software during the REPMUS exercise. This edition brings together defence professionals, engineers, technology companies, startups, researchers and innovators to explore one of the most important challenges shaping the future of defence: autonomy across multiple operational domains, from orbit to maritime operations. Rather than focusing on abstract concepts or distant predictions, the meetup is designed around real operational challenges, emerging technologies and lessons learned from the field. We will look at how autonomous systems, advanced software, sensing, AI and other technologies can contribute to stronger, more resilient and multi-layered defence capabilities.

The evening will open with perspectives from the Ukrainian reality, providing a direct view of how technology and autonomy are being shaped by contemporary warfare and rapidly evolving operational requirements. This will be followed by insights from Critical Software, a Portuguese technology company with deep experience developing reliable and mission-critical systems for demanding environments including aerospace and defence.
